Hexcharm

Jewelry Care Guide

Your piece pairs genuine metal, natural stone, and embedded magnets — a little everyday care keeps it looking sharp and working at full strength for years.

Every Hexcharm piece — whether it's IP-plated stainless steel, copper, or a hematite and crystal design — is finished by hand and tested for comfort and hold. Because real metal and natural stone are involved, small changes over time (a touch of patina, a slight softening of plating) are normal character, not a flaw. The steps below will help you slow that process down and keep the magnets inside performing the way they should.

Not sure what your piece is made of? Check the material listed on your product page or order confirmation email — the three groups below cover everything we currently sell.

Copper Magnetic Jewelry

Curb chain necklaces · His & Hers copper cuffs · copper bracelets

Pure copper reacts naturally with air, moisture, and the oils on your skin — that's what gives copper jewelry its famous warmth, and over time, its darker patina. We apply a light protective coating before it ships to slow this down, but no coating stops it forever, and that's by design, not a defect.

Wipe after wear

Buff gently with a dry, soft polishing cloth to lift surface oils and restore shine.

Store it sealed

Keep pieces dry, then store in the resealable pouch or a zip-top bag between wears.

Avoid chemicals

Perfume, lotion, sweat, chlorine, and pool or shower water all speed up tarnishing.

A lot of our customers end up loving the deeper, aged patina that develops after a few months — it's what makes a copper piece feel truly yours. If you'd rather keep it bright, just polish it on your usual schedule.

IP-Plated Stainless Steel Jewelry

Bracelets, rings, necklaces, pendants & earrings

These pieces are built on hypoallergenic stainless steel with an ion-plated (IP) gold, rose-gold, or two-tone finish. That plating is much tougher than ordinary gold plating, but it's still a surface layer — it will gradually soften with repeated contact from skin oils, friction, and water over months of daily wear.

Clean it

Wipe down with a soft, dry cloth after each wear to remove oils and everyday dirt.

Avoid chemicals

Don't spray cologne, hairspray, or lotion directly onto the piece — apply products first, then put jewelry on.

Keep it dry

Fine for a quick hand-wash, but slip it off before showers, saunas, pools, or the ocean.

Hematite & Crystal Beaded Jewelry

Hematite anklets & bracelets · crystal magnetic rings

Hematite is a dense, naturally magnetic stone, and our crystal cabochons are set by hand — both are polished to a high shine but can chip or crack if dropped on a hard surface or knocked against other jewelry. Treat these pieces a bit more like stone jewelry than metal jewelry.

Wipe, don't soak

A barely damp cloth is fine for cleaning; avoid leaving beads submerged or in standing water.

Store separately

Lay flat on its own, away from chains and hard metal pieces that can scratch or chip the beads.

Avoid impact & heat

Don't drop, knock, or leave beads on a hot dashboard or sunny windowsill for long periods.

A note on the magnets

These apply to every magnetic piece in our collection, regardless of material.

  • Keep magnetic jewelry away from pacemakers, insulin pumps, hearing aids, and other medical implants — if you or someone nearby uses one, check with a doctor first.
  • Store magnetic pieces away from credit cards, hotel keys, and electronics — a strong magnet sitting against a magnetic stripe can wipe it.
  • Two magnetic pieces (or two clasp ends) can snap together quickly and with real force — bring them together slowly to avoid pinching your skin.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy or for young children. If you have any medical condition, check with your doctor before wearing magnetic jewelry.
